Worker Voice Standard

Developing a Standard for the Use of Direct Worker Voice to support Human Rights Due Diligence and Social Performance Reporting

Who we are

The Direct Worker Voice Standards Working Group (DWV SWG) is a multidisciplinary group formed to develop a set of open standards to help ensure fair, transparent and ethical use of DWV data to identify forced labor and exploitation in supply chains.

A DWV Standard

The standards will be based on using affordable mobile technology to help assert workers’ personal rights regarding data assets, privacy and equitable participation in the digital economy. Using tools such as broad-based workers surveys, the standards will enable responsible entities in private, public and community sectors to align to UN SDGs and Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Solutions built around the

standards will help organisations demonstrate compliance with emerging international legislation requiring respect for Human Rights and fair social, environmental and economic practices. The standards will emerge from an iterative process including consultation with key stakeholders from public and private sectors, NGOs and academia with relevant interest and expertise.

Building on lessons learned through iterative trials of the Million Makers initiative, the standards development process will anchor this process as ‘guiding principles’ for Worker Voice.
